Brief information about the faculty

Officially, the faculty was established in 1958. At the beginning, all research and teaching laboratories were housed in the building on Sverdlova Street, and only in 1974 the faculty was moved to the building in "Generalskye Dachi" district. First students were enrolled for "Automation, Remote Control and Communication in Railway Transport" discipline in 1956, in the year when the institute was opened. The discipline "Information Systems and Technology" was opened in 1997, and the discipline "Data Protection Organization and Technology" - in 1999. From 1961 to 2012, the chair has trained 5512 specialists, and 496 of them received diplomas with honors.

Today, the faculty has 27 teaching and research laboratories, nine computer classrooms, research and educational center "Information technology, informational support and data security in transport", which support the learning process. In addition, researches are carried out in the laboratories, in the field of improvement of data transmission networks, systems and technologies and optimization and security of information systems (networks), development of management schemes for LED traffic lights being introduced in the railway network of JSC RZD, development and implementation of instrumentation for diagnosis of automation and remote control devices.
