Admission Regulations

Dear applicants!

We are willing to give you information about The Ural State University of Railway Transport (USURT). Our University provides two-level training programmes: bachelor's training and master training. 

Bachelor's training is carried out on the following directions: economics, management, construction, land transport systems, system analysis and management, commerce, environmental protection, vehicle operation, automation and control, informatics and computer science, electric power engineering, electric engineering, electromechanics and electric technologies. 

Master's training is carried out on the following directions: land transport systems, electric engineering, electromechanics and electric technologies. 

Firstly, to apply to USURT you need to make nostrification (bring to conformity with the Russian system of education) of the following documents: high school diploma or university diploma in your country. 

Secondly, you must pass Standardized Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) because all the lectures, seminars are led in Russian. 

Applicants who do not have a good command of the Russian language will be enrolled in a preparatory course to study Russian. For the period of training, the University will provide hostel rooms. After the preparatory course you will have to pass an exam. 

Tuition fee of the academic year at the Ural State University of Railway Transport starts from 2000 $ and vary depending on the specialty. 

The Admission Board of the Ural State University of Railway Transport each year starts its work in June and finishes in the beginning of August.

Recognition of Foreign Certificates and Degrees

Two national bodies in the Russian Federation are responsible for the recognition of foreign certificates and degrees. The Ministry for Central and Professional Education handles the recognition of certificates and degrees related to higher education and professional qualifications. The Supreme Certification Committee is responsible for the recognition of doctorates. 

For the recognition of higher education and professional certificates and degrees gained abroad, applicants should submit the following documents:

  • Application form.
  • Educational or degree certificate (the original or a legally-certified copy, certified for example, by a notary public).
  • Supplements to the educational or degree certificate, if appropriate.

The Russian Federation has bilateral and international agreements on the mutual recognition of certificates and degrees with more than 60 countries. Contact the USURT International Office for further advice. 

Entry and Residence Regulations

The USURT International Department will help you with visa and residence permit formalities. After you have enrolled in the University, you will receive an official invitation that allows you to apply for a Russian visa. Applicants are responsible for applying to Russian embassies in their countries of residence and for paying all the consular fees. Immigration authorities often require students to provide proof of ability to pay fees and other living expanses before allowing them to enter Russia. Be sure to allow ample time to receive your visa and entry clearance before enrolling.
